About maNga

maNga’s quest for an album was prompted by Ferman Akgül’s participation in a Turkish contest “Sing Your Song” in September of 2001. When Orçun Şekerusta had to leave the band because of personal reasons, Cem Bahtiyar (bass guitar) joined to replace him and maNga took its present form. Comprising of Ferman Akgül (vocalist), Yağmur Sarıgül “Yam Yam” (electric guitar), Cem Bahtiyar (bass guitar), Özgür Can Öney (drums) and Efe Yılmaz (turntable), and merging five different characters and five distinct music tastes, the band set out to turn into reality the ultimate dream of an album, under the name MaNga, the renowned ecole of Japanese comics. The band came in second at “Sing Your Song” contest with its song “Kal Yanımda”, which is their first composed song. With the encouragement they gained in the contest, they began to make new songs. In the period that followed their success, the band recorded many popular songs, such as “Bitti Rüya”, “Libido” and “Yalan”. Their debut album, bearing the same name with the band, was released on December 14, 2004.
